Flexographic Label Printing

Flexographic printing is used to handle very large orders. This is the most popular style of printing and most cost effective. The flexographic presses allow multiple uses, such as:

  • Double-sided printing
  • Water based inks
  • Printing width of 16 feet
  • Foil, metallic, and florescent

The flexographic allows up to 10 colors (10 color flexo). UV varnish can also be added to protect from fading in the sun. Flexographic printing is one of the best methods because of the process. The process is done by transferring ink onto the material using flexible printing plates that are mounted on fast-rotating cylinders. This type of printing allows complete customization of labels. Types of products that can be printed on flexographic presses are

  • Shrink sleeve wraps
  • Pressure-sensitive labels
  • Pouches
  • Double-sided prints
  • Multi-ply labels

For large amounts of printing water web-fed materials are rolls of material that is fed into the press, instead of individual sheets. Flexographic printing is faster at printing large amounts of material than digital printing.

Color Options

There is a 4-color process printing, which allows multi-color labels or single color labels. The four colors are magenta, yellow, cyan, and key (black). CMYK colors are only to be used and not RGB. This is because of the different displays; RGB is used for computers, phones, and tablets. CMYK inks are able to achieve most colors available.
