Making Sure Your Product Label Design is Easy to Read

A good product label design is one that offers important information a consumer needs to make a decision to buy. But, it also showcases the information in a way that’s easy to read and comprehend. If you need a product label design for a new product or rebranding, considering your label legibility can give you peace of mind knowing you give potential consumers the easy access to information they expect. So, to provide you with the knowledge of providing a legible product label, we’ve come up with four tips.

Make Sure to Choose a Readable Font

There are many fonts to choose from. And, some are easier to read than others. So, you may want to consider one or a combination of fonts that are easy to read in the space provided on your label. Keep in mind; you want your font to go with the feel of your already consistent branding efforts. But, you also want to make sure that these fonts are easily read so your potential customers don’t move on to the next product due to illegibility.

Consider Spacing and Size of Text

Whether your packaging is small or large, the lettering on your label should be large enough to read. So, if you have a smaller packaging size, consider using as few words in descriptions as possible. But, if you have a larger packaging that can implement a larger label, you will likely have more space for more information. However, make sure that information is portrayed with lettering big enough to read with ease. Finally, along with the size of the text, remember that spacing between letters is also important. Narrow spacing between letters can be challenging to read. And, when labels are harder to read, they’re harder to interpret.

Identify a Good Font Contrast that Works for Your Product Label Design

If you have your heart set on a certain font or you want your lettering to simply pop out more, consider adding a contrast. Contrast on background and font color can be a great advantage to making a label more legible. For example, white lettering on a black background is clear and precise, making it even easier to read from far away. Try experimenting with contrasting your branding colors to find a pair that works for your product label design.
