How to Get Your Product Labels Noticed

In the label-making industry, we all want to stand out so that customers reach for the products bearing our labels. There is so much to consider – colors, shapes, names, information… the list is endless. What are some of the top things to pay attention to when creating your custom product labels? Read on to find out.

Know your Audience

Label-making is partly marketing, and to be a successful marketer, market research needs to be done. Knowing your audience is a great way to make sure you are using the right tactics to reach them. There are many ways to get this information – polls, surveys, talking to your clients – are all great ways to get to know what your consumer is interested in. You can also test different labels to see what works best for your clients.

Narrow Down the Information on your Product Labels

Part of marketing is knowing the most important information your customers want to see, and what will influence them to choose your product above the rest. Make sure the benefits of your products are clear so that buyers know what they will be getting when they purchase your item. Using bullet points and strong fonts help catch consumer’s eyes, and they will be more apt to purchase a product that promises to deliver the benefits they want to receive right on the label.

Product Labels Make things Easy

People want to see the information they need right away. If they are looking for low-fat, that’s what they’ll look for on a label. Clear, concise, and to-the-point. Eliminate flowery language and long phrases – this is where you want keywords to jump off the label so people can recognize what they are looking for right away. Don’t forget that in today’s world, most of our information is located online so it is easy to direct customers to a website rather than cramming too much information into a small label. This being said it is also important to know the key information your customer needs so that they don’t end up putting your product back on the shelf.

Bright, eye-catching colors and distinct logos are another way to ensure a customer’s eyes land on your product. Brand recognition is a big thing, but something that needs to be built up as a company matures. Make sure to use fonts that are easy to read and stand out. A trick to doing this is using contrasting colors, such as bright font on a dark background, or vice-versa.
