Tips for Designing the Perfect Custom Labels for Jars

Who doesn’t love products that come in jars. Everyone likes a nice, glass jar, right? Maybe so. But, before people buy an item that’s sold in a jar, they read the label. Sometimes, the jar isn’t clear glass. This means that the product can’t be seen just by looking at the jar. But, the label can let the consumer know what’s inside of the container. If you plan to use jars to contain your products, you may want to take a look at some of these tips! We’re going to let you in on a few secrets behind creating the perfect custom labels for jars.

Ideas for You Custom Labels for Jars

One of the first things that you should think about when designing your custom labels for jars is clarity. It’s extremely important that you let consumers know exactly what the product is. Make sure your label says the name of the product and gives a description of what you’re selling. This description doesn’t need to be anything extraordinary or extravagant. If you’re selling a hair product, your label could either say, “rejuvenating hair conditioner” or simply “conditioner”. Both give a description of the product and let people know what they’re purchasing. This example brings us to our second tip.

Beware of your word choice. If your hair care product uses the word “rejuvenating,” people will be looking to get a better result than a normal, “less rejuvenating” conditioner would give them. The words on your custom labels for jars (and any other container for that matter) mean a lot! So choose wisely and be sure your product does what you say it does. When all is said and done, the product will speak louder than the label. Your goal is to make sure the label and the product itself are saying the same thing!

Thirdly, be sure to include only the most helpful information. You may not have enough space to put a personal note, however, those always add a wonderful and personable touch to a product label. If you don’t have space, you may want to omit it. Definitely, aim to include details like the amount that’s in the jar (i.e. 16oz). Always follow the FDA guidelines for food product labeling. It requires you to add nutritional information, ingredients, and so forth. So, be sure to have space for all that. You may also need to include directions for use.
